Petersons celebrate sixty years

Deane J. and Anajean (Young) Peterson of 11880 W. Pearl Street, Kewanna, were married on June 30, 1948.

The couple has three children: Vivian Peterson of Kewanna, Dwight (Venita) Peterson of Winamac, and Don (Jovy) Peterson of Kewanna. They also have seven grandchildren: Daniel, James, Jenny, Kori, Blaine, Joemer, and Jee Ann.

They would enjoy receiving cards from family and friends.

Johnsons celebrate sixty years

Bill and Gllendean Johnson of Seagrove, N.C., formerly of Winamac, celebrated their 60 year anniversary on May 12, 2008. They were married in Cisne, Ill. and attendants were Carl and Neva Hillard. They have two children: Judy Lackey and Dennis Johnson; five grandchildren: Kim, Jeremy, Shane, Randa and Chiris; and ten great grandchildren. Paul and Judy Lackey hosted the party at their home in High Point, N.C.

Benzing - Mays
Laura (Benzing) Mays and JT Mays were united in marriage on April 5, 2008 at the Winamac United Methodist Church by Steve Fritchman. Laura is the daughter of Larry and Pat Bucks of Rochester and Gene and the late Ray Schramm of Winamac. JT is the son of Lila Mays of Winamac and Jerry and Peggy Mays of Winamac.
The bride was given in marriage by her son, Scott Benzing. The maid of honor was Sydney Richards, the daughter of the bride. The best man was Jerad Mays, son of the groom. Groomsman was Scott Benzing. A reception followed at the Winamac VFW.
The new Mrs. Mays is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and is currently employed with Allied Waste Services in Culver. 
JT is currently employed with Wastequip (Galbreath) in Winamac.
After a honeymoon at Gatlinburg, Tenn. the couple is at home in Winamac.

Powers celebrate fifty years

Powers celebrate fifty years
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Powers recently celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.
Robert Powers and the former Miss Beverly Ludwig were married by the Rev. Father Alex Leiker in St. Peter’s Catholic rectory on May 31, 1958, here in Winamac. The maid of honor was Judith Korreckt and best man was Harry Powers, both now deceased.
The Powers are parents of three children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They are: Valerie Powers, mother of Rebecca and David Rausch; Kathryn Powers Rodela, mother of Ryan and Andrew Rodela; and Scott Powers, married to Tammy, and father of Melissa (Brandon Hicide and Kaleb); SaDonna. (Erick Budka and Summer); Tonya and son, Addison Allen; and Rose Marie Powers.
Powers is self-employed and has been in business for himself for about 45 years. Bev has been retired since 2001. In the early years, both Bob and Bev were very involved with volunteer work including the Boy and Girl Scouts, the WHS Alumni, and also with their Church, St. Peter’s. They are at home at 900 West State Road 14, Winamac, where they have lived since 1963.

Widners celebrate forty years
Jerry and Sharon (Emmons) Widner of Winamac are celebrating their 40 year anniversary. They were married on June 15, 1968 in Logansport, Ind. by Rev. Kenneth Mocks. Sharon’s parents’ names are John and Juanita Emmons and Jerry’s parents’ names are Marion and Claudia Widner. Jerry and Sharon have two children and four grandchildren.

Ewing to celebrate 90 years
Alma Ewing and children Beverly, Phyllis, Robert, Virginia, David and Daniel would like our friends to celebrate Bob Ewing’s 90th birthday on Saturday June 14th from 2 to 4 in the Winamac Town Park. Well-wishers may send cards to P.O. Box 553 Francesville, Ind. 47946.

 

Funks to celebrate golden

Richard and Marcia Funk will celebrate their golden anniversary with an open house Saturday, July 5th, hosted by their children from 1–5 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 828 N. Market St., Winamac.

Rich and Marcia Weaver were married July 5, 1958 at Pious Chapel Church, Idaville by Rev. John Rathbun. Rich is retired from Bonnell Construction and Marcia is retired from Dr. Cowley’s office. They are the proud parents of three children. Deborah [Mike] Roemer of Jasper, Richard [Tracy] Funk of Pittsboro and Jill [John] Birmingham of Enfield, Conn. They also have four grandchildren: Andrew and Mitchell Funk and Emma and Meckaela Birmingham. The couple request no gifts.
