Community foundation announces grant cycles

Community nonprofits and youth organizations may soon apply for grant funds through the Community Foundation of Pulaski County. Grant applications will be available Aug. 1, 2016, at www.cfopc.org.

Community grants for a maximum of $7,500 may be awarded to organizations for charitable programs and projects that serve the Pulaski County community. Community grant application deadline is Sept. 9. Youth grant applications for projects up to $500 are due Aug. 31.

A variety of grantees from the past two years proudly participated in the foundation’s 4-H Fair Parade float with a banner informing onlookers “We Got a Grant!” Last year’s community grants awarded over $39,000 to nine organizations serving Pulaski County, including: Eastern Pulaski Elementary PTA, Eagle Scout Flag Display; Friends of Tippecanoe River State Park, Pulaski Co. Human Services, Pulaski Co. Babe Ruth League, Pulaski Co. Public Library, Servants at Work, Star City Lions Club and Winamac Volunteer Fire Department.

Youth grants will be awarded to improve existing programs or for new youth projects in the schools or community. Interested youth organizations, associations, or civic groups that provide services in Pulaski County may apply. Last year’s grant to Eastern Pulaski Elementary School provided funds for a colorful “Buddy Bench” on each playground.

“Annual community grant dollars come from the foundation’s Community Grants Fund. As the fund grows, additional and larger grants can be awarded,” said Gregg Malott, CFPC president.

“The recent GIFT VI initiative encouraged gifts to this fund, and the community’s generous response will make an impact on future grant dollars available to improve and strengthen our county.”

First-time community grant applicants may register for a free workshop to be held on two separate dates: August 5 at noon and August 11 at 4 p.m. The application process will be reviewed along with basic proposal writing tips. To attend, contact the Community Foundation of Pulaski County office at 127 E. Pearl Street, Winamac; 574-946-0906; or www.cfopc.org.
