County council looks to cut three funds for 2017 budget

Pulaski County Auditor Shelia Garling gave the county council some good news as to the county finances during a regular meeting Monday evening.
Garling said the council needs to prepare the 2017 budget. The good news is that only three funds need to be cut. The not so good news is that the county general share fund will need to be cut by $1.1 million.
She advised the council to also look at the rainy day fund because it is currently more than $1 million.
The budget cuts this year are not as strenuous as the last two years, according to Garling. She said in 2016 the county went from an $11.3 million budget (2015) to a $6.4 budget (2016).
Garling is hoping that the council will cut a little more than $1.1 million.
