Carolyn S. Zeider

Carolyn S. Zeider, 85, of Star City, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. 

She was born on April 14, 1936, in Star City to the late Willard McMillen and Myrtle Belle (Spears) Berkshire.  Carolyn graduated from Star City High School in 1954.  On Nov. 18, 1955, she married Wayne D. Zeider in Star City. He passed away on Oct. 2, 1992. Carolyn was a devoted homemaker and worked as the bookkeeper and office manager for Zeider farms for many years. She was active in numerous clubs in her younger years and was a proud member of the Democratic Party. Carolyn was always very supportive of her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons: Rob Zeider of Star City and Richard [Elaine] Zeider of Star City; daughter Shelley [Lee] Jennings of Winamac; granddaughters: Jenna Zeider, Taylor Jennings and Ashlynn Jennings; grandsons: Parker Zeider and Conner Jennings; sister-in-law Margaret Berkshire of Winamac; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Willard and Myrtle (Spears) Berkshire; husband Wayne D. Zeider; son Ronald Zeider; sisters: Lois [Muck] Hines, Elizabeth “Lib” Berkshire and Myra “Jo” [Al] Foster; brothers: Gerald “Tim” Berkshire, Robert “Bob” [Evelyn] Berkshire, and Charles Bruce Berkshire; infant brother John Berkshire; and half brothers: Everett Berkshire, William Insley Berkshire, Wayne Berkshire and Donald Berkshire.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. David Broad officiating.  

Burial will take place at Star City West Cemetery in Star City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital Foundation.
