Daniel Clyde “Dan” Fitz

June 23, 1966 — Jan. 20, 2022

Daniel Clyde “Dan” Fitz, 55, of Winamac, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 20. He was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dan was born on June 23, 1966, to Jon and Linda (Cannon) Fitz in Plymouth. Dan graduated from Culver Community High School in 1985. He served in the Army National Guard for 16 years working in maintenance and infantry. On Dec. 13, 1994, Dan married his lifelong sweetheart, Debra Caudill. His last employer before he became ill was MPI in Knox where he worked for eight years.

Dan’s most precious assets were his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, and grandfather. He always looked forward to family gatherings where he knew that no matter how busy and hard life was his family was sure to gather. Dan enjoyed watching his grandkids grow and was always happy when the weekends would arrive for them to come stay. In earlier years, Dan loved camping, listening to 80’s hard rock music, family vacations, and fishing. One of his most favorite things to do in sickness and in health was taking trips around Bass Lake and Culver Lake. He enjoyed seeing all the new changes. Daniel will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to have met him in their lives.

He is survived by his wife Debra (Caudill) Fitz of Winamac; daughters: Crystal [Mitchell] Wolff of Winamac, Danielle [Chris Dora] Fitz of Indianapolis and Robin [Nathan] Harp of New Waverly; sons: DJ [Ashley] Fitz of Shelbyville, Shane [Ashley Crum] Fitz of Winamac and Jerry [Shirley Elpers] Fitz of Winamac; mother Linda (Cannon) Biddle of Winamac; brothers: Jonwood [Julie] Fitz of Wisconsin and Jonathan Fitz of Culver; sister Courtney [Matt] Artist of Knox; aunt Carol Kellenburger of Star City; uncle Harry [Linda] Cannon of Winamac; 11 grandchildren: Addyson, Brianna, Bentley, Conner, Aidyn, Wyatt, Rylan, Jynsen, Liam, Keyara, and Ashtynn; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
