Dean Osburn Scholl

Dean Osburn Scholl passed away at the Cherokee County Nursing Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on Sept. 23. 

Mrs. Scholl was born in Pulaski County, on May 6, 1914, the daughter of J. Edward and Cora Hahn. She lived in Michigan City from 1943 until 2008 when she moved to Oklahoma. She was married to James M. Osburn, who died in 1958. She later married Edward L. Scholl, who passed away in November of 1977.

Mrs. Scholl was an elementary teacher for 26 years, the last 15 being in Michigan City, four at Jefferson School and 11 at Joy School. She retired in 1972. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a member of Lake Michigan Chapter #98, Order of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1970. She was past grand organist of the OES in 1975. She belonged to Pottawattomie Country Club, Women of the Moose, the Vivians of the Elks and Retired Teachers Association. She was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, by virtue of her late husband.

She is survived by her son Terry E. [Libby] Osburn of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; daughter Barbara Lamont of Barrington, Rhode Island; three grandsons; four granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by three sisters; and four brothers.

A memorial graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. on Oct. 11, at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, with Pastor Mark Reshan of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating.
