Deborah A. “Deb” Braun

Deborah A. “Deb” Braun, 65, of Winamac, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, surrounded by her family at home. 

Deb was born on Dec. 1, 1950, in Logansport, to the late Gene and Ethel VonTobel. On Nov. 21, 1970, Deb married the love of her life, Bill Braun. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2016.

Deb was a devoted farm wife. She was a lover of all animals, starting with the first baby calf Bill gave her that lived in the basement. Her greatest love came later in life — her Scottish terriers. She was an avid gardener and owner of Countryside Flowers. She helped to start the Master Gardener program in Pulaski County. Deb was an active member of the community and was a Pulaski County 4-H club leader for many years. 

She enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with family and friends and always kept an open door policy to anyone who needed a friend. She will be dearly missed. 

Survivors include her son David [Nancy] Braun of Kokomo; daughters: Susan [Brian] Brothers of Columbus, Ohio, and Sarah [Shaun] Kasten of Winamac; grandsons: Alex Braun, Nicholas Braun, Adam Brothers and Austin Kasten; granddaughters: Alexandria Glenn, Samantha Glenn, Elizabeth Wiess and Madyson Kasten; brothers: Ed VonTobel and Barry [Mary] VonTobel; sisters: Amy Worland, Lynn [Norman] Welker and Leslie Diaz; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Eugene “Gene” and Ethel G. (Cherowbrier) VonTobel; and husband William J. “Bill” Braun. 

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Rev. Tom Dewlen officiated. Private burial took place in Reed Cemetery, Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Starke County Humane Society or Medaryville Assembly of God Church.
