Dennis F. Pletka

Aug. 21, 1938 — July 29, 2017

Dennis F. Pletka, 78, of Winamac, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac. 

Dennis was born on Aug. 21, 1938, in Winamac, to the late Frank and Martha (Pucka) Pletka. He graduated from Winamac High School in 1957. On Aug. 30, 1970, Dennis married DeAnna K. Sparks in Logansport. She survives.

Dennis served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Plymouth Tube Co. in Winamac after 30 years. He was the former coach of Winamac Youth Soccer for many years. 

Dennis enjoyed horse racing, sports and his cats. He was an avid Cubs fan and a frustrated Bears and Notre Dame fan. Dennis also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife DeAnna K. Sparks Pletka of Winamac; sons: Scott Pletka of Logansport, and Bryan [Shanan] Pletka of Logansport; sisters: Virginia Mills of Dayton, Ohio, Irene Mitchell of Winamac, and Mary Kaminski Bowman of Winamac; brother-in-law David Sparks of Winamac; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Martha (Pucka) Pletka; and brothers: James Pletka, Raymond Pletka, Thomas Pletka, John Pletka and Frank Pletka.

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Funeral services were at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Frain Mortuary. Father Terry Blennis officiated. Burial took place in Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
