Donnabelle J. Fisher

Donnabelle J. Fisher, 87, of Kewanna, passed away at 12:35 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

Born on May 1, 1932, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Wilma (Shoemaker) Van Duyne.

She was a 1950 Kewanna High School graduate.

On April 15, 1951, she married Clifford M. Fisher. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 2006.

She was an active member of Kewanna United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir as well as a member of the harvest air singing group. Donnabelle loved horses from an early age, showing them and going on trail rides throughout the state and was a longtime member of the Kiwanis saddle club.

Donnabelle was a homemaker, living in a home that she and her husband, Bill, built in the early ‘50s where they raised their two children. Her family was always her number one priority. As a member of a home economics club, she also enjoyed cooking and baking and their annual Christmas cookie exchange with her extended family members. Her favorite pasttimes and hobbies included oil painting, camping and fishing, playing cards and games with her friends and family.

Survivors include her children: Cynthia [Terry] Young of Winamac, and Donald F. [Marilyn] Fisher of West Lafayette; brother Frank [Ruth] Van Duyne of Terre Haute; sister Wiladean [Gene] DeWitt of Oxnard, California; grandchildren: Brian [Emily Hizer] Young of Winamac, Jennifer [Chris] Bland of Ellettsville, Matthew [Desiree] Young of Unionville, Vicki [Dan] Perry of Lawrence, and Jessica [Jarad] Taylor of Lafayette; and great-grandchildren: Molly McClure, Avery Griffin, Claire Bland, Eli Young, Amelia Young, Mason Young, Chloe Bland, Ethan Perry and Ayla Perry.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, at Kewanna United Methodist Church. Pastor Hal Cohn officiated. Burial followed at Citizens IOOF Cemetery in Kewanna.
