Dorothy L. Warmbrod

April 9, 1931 — Sept. 10, 2020

Dorothy L. Warmbrod, 89, of Rochester, passed away at 10:29 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10,  in Plymouth.

She was born on April 9, 1931, in Hammond, the daughter of John and Lois (Roberts) Young. On Oct. 21, 1951, in Winamac, she married Kenneth E. Warmbrod. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2017.

Mrs. Warmbrod had worked for Crystal Dairy and Schultz Dime Store, both of Rochester, and Chamberlains in Akron. She was active over the years in the women’s bowling leagues, bunco club, along with her husband had done extensive traveling visiting 48 states. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, listening to music, reading, family gatherings, serving as the family historian and following Indiana University basketball and the Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include her children: Mike [Sylvia] Warmbrod of Decatur, Illinois, Kathy [David] Isbell of Rochester, Carolyn [Jim] Pennell of Rochester, and Melinda [Robert] Styles of Rochester; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in law: Carol Warmbrod of Rochester, Wilma Young of Winamac, and Marcella Young of Dyer; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; three brothers; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends visited from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Memorial services followed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac.
