Edward (Grumpy) Wineland

March 5, 1937 — Oct. 27, 2017

Edward “Grumpy” Wineland, 80, of Star City, passed away at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, on Oct. 27, surrounded by family.

Ed was born on March 5, 1937, to Albert and Florence Wineland. On July 10, 2004, he married Julie (LaTour) Wineland, who survives. 

Ed had a zest for life and had a large circle of family and friends who will miss the energy he brought to every gathering. He loved his winters in the Arizona desert where he made many lifetime friends. 

He is also survived by his son Eddie [Brenda]Wineland; daughter Beth [Dan] Drotar; sisters: Betty Troup and Delores Erdei; grandchildren: Eddie [Amber] Wineland, Sarah [Ryan] Peterson, Cory Wineland, and Devin and Niles Drotar; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his stepfamily: Cathy [Tim] Loosemore, Laurie [Stan] Kidd, Dennis LaTour; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Casey; and his brother Robert Wineland. 

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
