Everett E. Kopka

August 28, 1935 — May 1, 2021

Everett E. Kopka, 85, of Winamac, passed away Saturday, May 1. 

He was born on August 28, 1935, in Jefferson Township, to the late Milo [Mary] Kopka. 

Everett was a truck driver for Diamond Trucking and was also a mechanic, and self-employed. He attended Medaryville Christian Church, where he served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of the Teamsters #364. 

On May 19, 1956, he married Reba (Tanner) Kopka at Medaryville Christian Church. She survives. Also surviving are his children: Cheryl [Steve] Walden, Cathy Deford, and Steve [Alice] Kopka; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Milo [Mary] Kopka; a sister: Emma Johns; brothers: William, Henry, Fred, Kenneth, Milo Jr., and Ernest Kopka; infant siblings: Carl, Charles, and Lena; and son-in-law: Kevin Deford.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, May 7 from 4-8 p.m. at the Medaryville Christian Church.

A funeral service will take place Saturday, May 8, at 11 a.m., with Pastor David Broad officiating. Burial will follow at Idle Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions  are requested for the Medaryville Christian Church or Riley Children’s Hospital.  

Boersma Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.
