Febe V. Byers

Dec. 8, 1940 — Sep. 17, 2018

Febe V. Byers, 77, of Wanatah, passed away at 1:04 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at home surrounded by loved ones. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Febe was born to the late Benjamin S. “Ben” and Naomi (Viallobos) Alva in Lockhart, Texas, on Dec. 8, 1940. She accepted Christ as her Savior in baptism at the Medaryville Christian Church on Sept. 16, 1955. Febe loved Jesus first and was a faithful servant throughout her life by being involved in various groups and organizations sharing her faith. She was on the LRCA Ladies’ Auxiliary for several years. She held various ladies’ home Bible studies, organized and taught several years of vacation Bible school. She was known for being a teacher of children at every church that she attended throughout her life. She was a true believer in missions and helping others and supported dozens of missions throughout the years through finance and prayer.
Febe was a graduate of the 1960 class of Francesville High School and attended Lincoln Christian College that same year. She spent her years after college as a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a caterer and decorated wedding cakes for 25 plus years. She enjoyed decorating her home inside and out and she loved flowers.
Family always came first to Febe. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and wife and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Phil of Wanatah; son Andy and his children Jacob and Josie of Yorktown; daughter Brenda [Devin] Drambarean and her children Julianna and Olivia of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister Rachel [Ron] Tanner of Francesville; brothers: Moses [Colleen] Alva of North Judson, and Sam [Vicky] Alva of Medaryville; two nephews; five nieces; and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents Benjamin S. “Ben” and Naomi (Viallobos) Alva; infant sister Alicia Alva; brother Jesse Ben Alva; and sister Ofelia Alva.
Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Medaryville Christian Church and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Medaryville Christian Church. Pastor Don Nedza and Pastor Dave Buche, of LaCrosse Christian Church, officiated. Burial took place at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.
