Glenn A. Tiede

June 24, 1949 — Oct. 11, 2016

Glenn A. Tiede, 67, of Francesville, passed away at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, after sustaining injuries in a grain elevator accident two weeks prior.

Glenn was born on June 24, 1949, in Francesville, to the late Donald V. and Marian R. (Ringen) Tiede. While in high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Glenn was a life member of the Francesville American Legion. 

Glenn had worked at the Francesville Elevator for more than 40 years, where he was well-known and well-liked. He served on the Francesville Volunteer Fire Department and as a first responder for many years. He was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. 

Glenn enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and hunting. 

Glenn was a loving dad and grandpa. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his daughter Alison [Brian] Carnahan of Francesville; son Timothy [Melissa] Tiede of Monticello; grandsons: Dillan Rehn, Owen Davis, Tim Carnahan, Tyler Carnahan, Jordan Smith, and Shawn Smith; granddaughters: Ashlund Rehn, Isabelle Rehn, Abby Davis and Amanda Smith; brother Skip [Becky] Tiede of Francesville; sisters: Ruth Ann Bishop of Lafayette, and Linda Rusk of Francesville; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald V. and Marian R. (Ringen) Tiede; and brothers: Bill Tiede and Jerry Joe Tiede. 

Visitation was from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Dennis Gutwein officiated. Burial took place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. The American Legion conducted military graveside services.
