Harold R. Weppler

Harold R. Weppler, 74, formerly of Dallas Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, LaGrange.

He was born March 7, 1942, in Winamac, to Clyde and Hazel (Howeisen) Weppler.

He was a graduate of Winamac High School, and honorably served in the U.S. Army. On October 23, 1971, in Michigan City, he married Sandra (McKinney) Beebe.

Mr. Weppler worked as an Indiana State Police Trooper from 1963 to 1987. He then became an investment advisor, owning and operating Abacus Investments in Topeka and Michigan City.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kendallville and a past member and president of the Michigan City Exchange Club.

Harold enjoyed golf, I.U. basketball, and Notre Dame football.

Surviving are his wife Sandra Weppler of Goshen; sons: Ronald [Jennifer] Beebe of Bargersville and Greg [Lisa] Beebe of Goshen; grandson Zach Beebe of Goshen; granddaughters: Maegan Beebe of Bargersville, and Emma Beebe of Goshen; brother Kenneth Weppler of Winamac; niece Amanda (Weppler) Gibson of Westfield; and his dog Trooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters: Barbara Kopka and Bonnie Tam.

A gathering of family and friends was Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 9-11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Kendallville. A memorial service followed on Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. in the church. Rev. Dr. Thomas Clothier officiated. Private burial took place at the Marion National Cemetery.
