Hilda Faye Lambert

Aug. 8, 1920 — April 3, 2019

Hilda Faye Lambert, 98, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, formerly of Winamac, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville. 

Faye was born on Aug. 8, 1920, in Idaville, to the late Alonzo W. and Matilda G. (Carlson) Roller. She graduated from Winamac High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio operator. 

On Nov. 1, 1947, Faye married the late Ernest Clifford Mays, who passed away on July 29, 1949. On March 16, 1957, she married the late Chester W. Lambert, who passed away May 4, 1993. Faye and Chester raised their family in Pulaski County. 

For nearly 40 years, Faye worked at First Union Bank and Trust in Winamac. She worked her way up from teller to a bank officer, retiring as an assistant cashier. Faye was a longtime member of the Winamac First Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of Rich Grove Home Economics Club. In 2012, Faye moved to Lawrenceville where she enjoyed the care and companionship of her brother George, Susan and family. 

Faye enjoyed quilting, gardening and painting ceramics as well as completing jigsaw puzzles and playing the domino game, Spinner. Faye also enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings and holidays. 

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Faye was a kind and loving woman with a great witty sense of humor who will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by her daughter Diana [Mark] Podorsky of Winamac; daughter-in-law Sharon Lambert of Wooster, Ohio; granddaughters: Tina Lambert and Lisa [Sean] Kaiser; grandson Zack Podorsky; great-grandsons: Emerson Kaiser and Benjamin Kaiser; brother George H. [Susan] Roller of Loganville, Georgia; sisters-in-law Carol Roller of Ft. Wayne, and June Roller of Bradenton, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Alonzo W. and Matilda G. (Carlson) Roller; first husband Ernest Clifford Mays; second husband Chester W. Lambert; son Richard Lambert; brothers: Wilbur A. [Mary Jane] Roller, Elmer Roller, Wallace W. [Della] Roller, Quincy A. (first wife Esther and second wife Sarah) Roller, and Marvin M. Roller; sister Iona P. Fletcher; and infant sister Ruth L. Roller.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 8, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the First Christian Church in Winamac. Rev. Nelda Seger officiated. Burial took place at McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac. Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
