Sept. 29, 1938 — Jan. 4, 2019

Jerry L. Brown, 80, of Kewanna, passed away peacefully at 5:42 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at Pulaski Health Care Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Sept. 29, 1938, in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary (Gray) Brown.

He was a 1957 Kewanna High School graduate where he also played basketball, softball and was in the band.

On Feb. 15, 1958, he married Katherine “Kay” Williamson. She survives.

Jerry served in the Indiana National Guard.

Jerry was a lifelong farmer and a Pioneer Seed Salesman for more than 30 years. He served on the Union Township Advisory Board and Mill Creek Conservancy Board and was a member of the Kewanna Lions Club.

He enjoyed Indiana basketball, golfing and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Jerry also enjoyed keeping up on the local news at Lynn’s Café and the Kibitzer.

Survivors include his wife Katherine “Kay” Brown of Kewanna; daughters: Susan [Michael] McKinney of Rochester and Angela [Tom] Smith of Rochester; sons: Mark [Mick] Brown of Kewanna, Michael [Lynn] Brown of Kewanna and Kerry [Karen] Brown of Connersville; brother Fred Brown of Rochester; sisters: Evelyn Peters of Kewanna and Vivian Hathaway of Warsaw; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Jean McKinzie; granddaughter Abby Smith; and great-grandson Connor McBride. 

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home & Crematory, Kewanna Chapel. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Citizens IOOF Cemetery in Kewanna.
