John Earl Walters, Jr.

John Earl Walters, Jr., 60, of Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Majestic Care of Lafayette. He was born on May 20, 1962, in Gary, the son of John Sr. and Sharon (Riege) Walters.

John worked as a security guard for Globe Securities the last two years. He was affiliated with St. Cecilia Catholic Church of DeMotte. John enjoyed the outdoors; farming, fishing, watching western movies, splitting wood, and mowing the grass. He also liked to collect hats.

John is survived by his mother Sharon Walters of Fair Oaks; sister Nancy [Wyatt] Stone of Lafayette; nephew Chandler Stone; nieces: Bailiy and Hailiy Nicholas; aunts: Loretta Nester, Elnora Girton, Joann [Grant] Hero; close cousin Sherriann McEnaney and many other cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father John Earl Sr; aunts and uncles: Jean White, Ralph Walters, Jerry Walters, Karen Floyd, Lorraine Rosenau, Donald Walters, Birdena Pierce; nephew Paul Walters; and niece Kayla Stone.  

Friends and family were invited to visit at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. 

A funeral Mass was held at the church promptly following visitation at 12 p.m. with Father Michael McKinney officiating.  Interment was held at DeMotte Cemetery.
