Margaret Ellen Berkshire

Oct. 18, 1936 — June 19, 2022

Margaret E. Berkshire, 85, of Winamac, formerly of Star City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 19. She passed away at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.

Margaret was born on Oct. 18, 1936, in Royal Center to the late Howard and Margaret (Conn) Lincoln. She graduated from Winamac High School in 1954. On Feb. 25, 1955, Margaret married Charles Bruce Berkshire in Star City. He passed away on Oct. 26, 2000.

Margaret worked at Eaton’s for 19 years and Tee-Pak for 11 years. Margaret was a longtime member of the Star City United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a devoted member of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and Bunco Club. Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting as well as traveling.

Margaret was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons: Randy [Vickie] Berkshire of Fort Wayne, Jim [Cara] Berkshire of Winamac and Brian [Rana] Berkshire of Star City; granddaughter Megan [Chad] Brewer; grandsons: Justin [Sasha] Berkshire, Anthony Berkshire, Joshua [Amber] Berkshire, Zachary Berkshire, Brandon [Ansley] Berkshire and Travis [Stephanie] Berkshire; sister Sharon [Mike] Weldon; brothers: John Lincoln, Leslie Lincoln and Gene [Susie] Lincoln; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents: Howard J. and Margaret M. (Conn) Lincoln; husband Charles Bruce Berkshire; great-grandson Jayden Berkshire; sister Catherine Swartzell; and brothers: Howard Ivan Lincoln, Levon Lee “Dick” Lincoln and Robert Dale Lincoln.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Friday, June 24 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Chris Kosary officiating.

Burial took place at Star City West Cemetery in Star City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Star City United Methodist Church or Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
