Patty L. Hoffman

Feb. 17, 1934 — March 11, 2023

Patty L. Hoffman, 89, of Winamac, passed away peacefully with her family around her at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.  

Patty was born on Feb. 17, 1934, in Winamac to the late William E. and Effie R. (Geiger) Degner. She graduated from Winamac High School in 1952. On Aug. 30, 1953, Patty married Jimmy J. Hoffman at Tippecanoe Christian Church. He passed away on Dec. 27, 2019.  

In her younger years, Patty played for the Farm Bureau Farmettes softball team with her sisters and sisters-in-law. She was a lifelong farm wife and homemaker in Pulaski County. She was an active member of the Happy Homemakers 4-H Extension Club. She enjoyed helping distribute food at the local food pantry. 

Patty was an avid Euchre and Canasta player as well as an avid reader and Chicago Cubs fan. She loved shopping for antiques with her sisters and doted on all her grandkids. Patty loved her family very much and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters: Sally [Steve] Butler, of Plainfield, Sue [Tim] Alexander, of Winamac and Sharon [Brian] Cords, of Medaryville; son Sam Hoffman, of Star  City; granddaughters: Brandy McClure, Lindsay [Brian] Dakin, Allison [Michael] Ellis, Megan [Chris] Wegner, Jenna Cords, and Jaden Cords; grandsons: S. Adrian Butler, Joel [Jenni] Butler, Jim [Katy] Alexander and Mark [Janelle] Alexander; sisters-in-law: Donna Hoffman Meyer-St. Clair and Alice Hoffman [Devon] Thurston-Fritz; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents: William E. and Effie R. (Geiger) Degner; husband Jimmy J. Hoffman; sisters: Vivian Degner, Donna [Charles] Delorenzo, Eula [Don] Cotner, Ruby [Maurice] Cotner and Nila Degner; and brothers: Robert [Ada] Degner and Dale [Lorraine] Degner.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 23, Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac, with Rev. Judy Doll officiating.

Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tippecanoe Christian Church or Pulaski County 4-H Council.
