Phyllis Joan Nelson-Fritz

June 28, 1933 — Dec. 30, 2020

Phyllis Joan Nelson-Fritz, 87, of Winamac, went home to heaven on Dec. 30, while residing at Life Care Center of Rochester.

Phyllis was born on June 28, 1933, in Lafayette, to Lee and Lena (French) Nelson. Phyllis was married to the love of her life, Clifford Fritz on Nov. 13, 1948, in Buffalo, for 72 years. Phyllis was a member of Bethel Bible Church, of Winamac, where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years. Phyllis loved being a housewife raising their children, and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family, friends and was well known for her cooking, shopping and giving to others.

Phyllis is survived by her loving family including her husband Clifford; children: Barbara [Ed] Clark, Pattie [Eddie] Egbert, Fred [Sheryl] Fritz, Doug [Brenda] Fritz, Tom [Lila] Fritz, Sandy Bathke, and Tim [Paige] Fritz; 20 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers; a sister; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

A drive-in service (outside) at Bethel Bible Church, Winamac, was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5. Pastor Tom Hopewell officiated. Interment followed at Roseland Cemetery of Francesville.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethel Bible Church, 6966 W. SR 14, Winamac.
