Ralph E. Tanner

May 1, 1941 — Nov. 26, 2016

Ralph E. Tanner, 75, of Medaryville, passed away at 6:44 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at IU Health White Hospital in Monticello. 

Ralph was born on May 1, 1941, in Winamac, to the late Floyd and Lillian (Stewart) Tanner. He was a 1959 graduate of Medaryville High School. On Sept. 3, 1960, Ralph married Carol A. Chesak in Medaryville. She survives. 

Ralph was an independent truck driver (Blue Denim). He was a lifelong member of the Medaryville Christian Church. Ralph loved his family very much and will be sadly missed. 

Survivors include his wife Carol A. (Chesak) Tanner of Medaryville; daughter Julie [Denny] Reed of Medaryville; son Jeff [Gina] Tanner of Francesville; grandsons: Jacob [Melissa] Tanner and Austin Davis; granddaughters: Sabrina Tanner, Carlee Davis and Alisha Tanner; great-granddaughter Emma Tanner; sister Carol Jean Smallfelt of Indianapolis; brothers: Larry [Bev] Tanner of Medaryville, and Roger [Denice] Tanner of Francesville; and sister-in-law Thelma Tanner of Medaryville. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Lillian (Stewart) Tanner; and brother David Tanner. 

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Medaryville Christian Church in Medaryville, and one hour prior to services at the church Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Medaryville Christian Church in Medaryville, with Don Nedza officiating. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery in Medaryville. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Waters Christian Church in Gonaives, Haiti c/o Salominique Adolphe (envelopes will be available at the church).
