Richard Eugene Bushman

July 14, 1936 — May 8, 2018

Richard Eugene Bushman, 81, of Flora, (formerly of Francesville), went home to be with the Lord at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 8. He passed away at Mulberry Health in Mulberry. 

Richard was born on July 14, 1936, in Francesville to the late Ernest E. and Mary G. (Rogers) Bushman. After graduating from high school, he farmed with his father and was later drafted into the U.S. Army. On April 3, 1960, he married the love of his life, Hazel Irene Crowe, in Decatur, Illinois. 

Richard was an active member of Paul’s Chapel Church in Winamac, and enjoyed Sundays spent with his family at church. He was a lifelong farmer and owner/operator of Bushman Sales and Service in Francesville. In his later years, he did small engine repair at Coast to Coast in Winamac. Richard loved the outdoors, especially fishing, gardening and birdwatching. 

Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Richard will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife Hazel Irene (Crowe) Bushman of Flora; daughter Faith D. Keller of Fishers; sons: Phillip E. [Sandy] Bushman of Camden, Daniel E. [Michele] Bushman of Brookston, and Timothy E. [Donna] Bushman of Winamac; grandchildren: Joseph, Hope, Makayla, Alyssa, Justin, Braiden, Dylan, Devin, Drew, Aaron, Austin, Adam, Ashley, Alan and Amber; great-grandchildren: Noah and Addilyn; sisters: Thelma [Bob] Bensen of Greenwood, Delores [Ray] Woodruff of Royal Center and Phyllis Maynard of Gallatin, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest E. and Mary G. (Rogers) Bushman; son-in-law Jim Keller; and brother-in-law Jerry Maynard. 

Visitation was 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, at Paul’s Chapel Church in Winamac. Pastor Phillip Messer officiated. Burial took place at Paul’s Chapel Cemetery in Winamac. The American Legion conducted military graveside services.
