Veneda L. Hoesel Davis

Nov. 21, 1926 — Sept. 3, 2019

Veneda L. Hoesel Davis, 92, of Winamac, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

She was born on Nov. 21, 1926, in Winamac, to the late Marion Lewis and Bertha Veneda (Hummel) Galbreath. In 1945, Veneda graduated from Star City High School in Star City. She worked many years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (ASCS) in Winamac and retired from the U.S. Post Office in Star City. 

Veneda was a member of Star City United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Veneda enjoyed cooking and traveling and was an animal lover. She was a sweet and kind lady who will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Estelle Galbreath; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Marion Lewis and Bertha Veneda (Hummel) Galbreath; first husband George Hoesel; second husband Thomas W. Davis; and brother Herbert E. Galbreath.

Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, and two hours prior to services at the funeral home Monday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Pastor Tom Richards officiated. Burial took place at Winamac Cemetery in Winamac.
