William Thomas “Tom” Densborn

William Thomas “Tom” Densborn, 95, of Logansport, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Woodbridge Health Campus, Logansport. 

Born on March 13, 1922, in Star City, he was the son of the late William Thomas Sr. and Grace (Skillen) Densborn. On Nov. 6, 1949, in Bloomington, Tom married Betty Jo Swearingen, who survives.

Tom graduated from Indiana University School of Business in 1948. He was a public accountant who provided bookkeeping and tax preparation services. He also worked for State Farm Insurance Company as an insurance adjuster. Earlier in his career, Tom was the controller for Jensen Implements (John Deere).

Tom served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Theatre, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was on the board of deacons and a member of The Baptist Temple, a member of Elks Lodge 66, member of the Jaycees, Tipton Masonic Lodge 33 as well as the Scottish Rite, American Legion Post 60 and V.F.W. Post 3790. He was on the Logansport Planning Commission and was a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association.

Surviving along with Tom’s wife Betty Jo are three daughters: Denise K. [Edwin Cy] Burkhart of Richmond, Beverly A. Reid of Noblesville, and Linda [Kevin] O’Brien of Logansport; sons: Don [Kathryn] Densborn of Indianapolis, and Greg [Amy] Densborn of Logansport; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Gundrum Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Cass County Community Foundation in memory of Tom Densborn or a charity of your choice.
