Fern L. Leman
Fern L. Leman, 100, of Francesville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 22. She passed away peacefully at Parkview Haven Retirement Home surrounded by her family.
Fern was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Francesville to the late Fred and Katie (Munz) Gutwein. She graduated from Francesville High School in 1943. On Aug. 4, 1945, Fern married Sidney B. Leman in Francesville. Fern and Sidney enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida with family and friends. Sidney passed away on Dec. 31, 2017.
Fern was a devoted member of the Francesville Apostolic Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Fern’s kind and gentle spirit was a gift from God. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by sons: Dennis [Linda] Leman, Francesville, Larry [Pam] Leman, Monticello, Douglas [Margaret] Leman, Francesville, Scott [Kathy] Leman, Francesville and Curtis [Valerie] Leman, Francesville; daughters: Kristine [Neal] Widmer, Battle Ground and Arlene [David] Metzger, Francesville; 27 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; sister Suzanne Cook, Francesville; sister-in-law Mary B. Gutwein Gramm, Leo; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents: Fred and Katie (Munz) Gutwein; husband Sidney B. Leman; infant daughter Rebecca Leman; infant granddaughters: Mitzie and Abbie Metzger; sisters: Louise Albrecht Heinold, Esther Gray, Dorothy Beer and Marcella Gudeman; brothers: Francis Gutwein, Harvey Gutwein, Edwin Gutwein, James Gutwein and Glen Gutwein.
Visitation was from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 27, at the Francesville Apostolic Christian Church with Ministers of the Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Haven Retirement Home or Apostolic Christian HarvestCall (Haiti Dairy or Jamaican Bible Translation).
Burial took place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
