August F. Ziebell Jr.
August F. Ziebell Jr., 88, of Winamac, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, at 4:22 a.m. at his residence.
He was born Aug. 13, 1926, in Oaklawn, Illinois, to August and Elizabeth Anna (Evans) Ziebell.
Augie was married to Mary J. (Graves) Olds on Dec. 1, 1962. Mary died March 7, 2007.
Augie worked in the Chicago stockyards as a young man. He moved to Winamac and farmed for most of his life.
He was a member of the Lutheran church. Augie served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Augie enjoyed gardening and telling stories.
Survivors include sons: Charles Jerry Olds of Winamac, and Jack Roger Olds of Madison; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sisters: Florence Kelly of St. George, Utah, and Shirley Armstrong Banks of Gilmer, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents August Gustav Sr. and Elizabeth Anna (Evans) Ziebell; wife Mary J. (Graves) Olds Ziebell; son Jeffrey Scott Olds; one granddaughter; and sister Helen Ziebell.
Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Frain Mortuary, with Rev. Edward Clark officiating. Burial will take place in McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services
