Daniel Loehmer
Daniel Loehmer, 76, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, July 8.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1948 in Monterey, to the late Nicholas and Veronica (Schutz) Loehmer. After graduating from Monterey High School in 1966 he completed his ironworker apprenticeship. Daniel was drafted into the US Army in 1969, and was stationed in Colorado from 1969-1971. He returned home to Indiana and resumed his 38 year-long career as a union ironworker. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local #379 in Lafayette.
Daniel was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting and fishing, liked a good card game, never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune, and was well-known for his large vegetable garden. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was always willing to lend a hand. He loved his children and extended family very much and was a proud “Big Beard Grandpa.” Daniel will be deeply missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by son Joshua Loehmer, North Manchester; daughter April [Keith] Stouder, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; granddaughter Emerson Stouder; grandson Liam Stouder; brothers: Raymond Loehmer, Portage and Loren [Angela] Loehmer, Monterey; sisters: Irene [Daniel] Forest, Monterey and Loretta Watkins, Ft. Wayne; brother-in-law David Reinhold, Kewanna; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Preceded in death by parents: Nicholas and Veronica (Schutz) Loehmer; brother Ralph [Ethel] Loehmer; sisters: Virginia [James] Mutt, Virgidelle Weasel and Vivian Reinhold; and sister-in-law Anne Loehmer.
Cremation will take place at Frain Crematory in Winamac.
A celebration of life visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 17, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anne’s Cemetery Fund.
