Luella R. Pelsy

Luella Rose “Lue” Pelsy, 92, of Francesville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 16. She passed away peacefully at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.

Luella was born on Oct. 12, 1933 in Eureka, Illinois to the late Herman J. and Elizabeth M. (Hangartner) Luginbuhl. She graduated from Roanoke High School in 1951. At the age of 21, Luella surrendered her life to the Lord and was baptized. She was a longtime member of the Apostolic Christian Church where she served faithfully throughout her life.  

Luella was married to Ellsworth J. Pelsy on Nov. 9, 1958 in Roanoke, Illinois. They shared 53 years of marriage before he passed away on May 9, 2012. Luella met Ellsworth while working as a bookkeeper at his brother-in-law’s car dealership. For nearly 40 years, she kept the books and assisted her husband (and later her son, Doug) with the daily operations of the Francesville Auto Parts Store. Aside from her duties at the auto parts store, Luella was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She especially enjoyed her role as a grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by sons: Dale [Terri] Pelsy, Francesville, Roger [Lily] Pelsy, Francesville and Doug [Katrina] Pelsy, Francesville; granddaughters: Amy [Trent] Brouillette, Erin [Chris] Drake, Amber [Alex] Leman and Chelsea [Mike] Sharpe; grandsons: Sean [Mackenzie] Pelsy, Jonathan [Jenna] Pelsy, Rodney [Sheena] Pelsy, Clayton [Ashton] Pelsy and Joshua [Tiffany] Knebel; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Ray [Carol] Luginbuhl, Roanoke, Illinois; sister-in-law Judy Luginbuhl, Secor, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by mother Elizabeth M. (Hangartner) Luginbuhl; father Herman J. Luginbuhl; step-mother Marjorie B. Luginbuhl; husband Ellsworth J. Pelsy; brothers: Robert J. [Jean] Luginbuhl and Leslie Luginbuhl; and sister-in-law Dorothy [John] Martin.

Visitation was from 10 – 11:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville.

Funeral services were held at noon on Monday, Dec. 22, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville, with Ministers of the Church officiating.

Burial took place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
